This results in loaves with greater volume and lighter texture. Our inverted Dutch oven means you can optionally turn the dough onto the lid instead of dropping it into a deep pot. This prevents potential burn injuries and makes scoring the dough very simple.

A good quality Dutch oven is a must for home bread bakers. The thick cast iron, when pre-heated, transfers extra heat into the dough when baking. The Dutch oven also traps steam in the pot while baking. This results in loaves with greater volume and lighter texture. Our inverted Dutch oven means you can turn the dough onto the lid instead of dropping it into a deep pot. This prevents potential burn injuries and makes scoring the dough very simple.

How to use – Preheat the Dutch oven for at least 30 minutes. Then turn your dough onto the lid section of the Dutch oven and score the dough. Place the top half of the Dutch oven onto the lid section. Put the Dutch oven into the oven. Remove the top half of the Dutch oven after 25 minutes of baking. Bake for another 10 – 15 minutes or until well browned.

Care instructions – Wash with warm water and mild soap. Dry completely to prevent rust (important!). Season by rubbing a thin layer of oil onto the Dutch oven. Use a paper towel to remove any excess oil. The more you use and oil the pot, the more seasoned it will become. If the pot does rust, it can be scrubbed with steel wool and reseasoned.

Major hubs (JHB, CPT, and DBN) are typically 2 – 3 working days from the time of despatch.

Outlying areas can take 3 – 5 working days from the time of despatch.

Orders are generally processed and despatched within 1-2 working days from the time of order, excluding weekends. Once your order has been processed and shipped, you will receive an email with your package tracking details.

Local Collection (Gauteng only) – We have moved to a new facility in Melville, JHB. Currently, the collection will only be available upon request and by appointment.

    This pot was exactly what I needed. I was previously baking in a beautiful orange enameled cast iron pot and after 5 loaves of sourdough it was starting to show some signs of wear and tear. I have already used this pot both ways up and its a great asset to the baker’s kitchen.

    Works well. Instead of using oil for storing, I use liquid paraffin. Liquid paraffin is also food-safe (people drink small quantities of it for centuries) and it does not harden, as plant oils would. If you bake regularly and clean the dutch oven before baking, the oil wouldn’t be a problem.
